PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Thursday seized 4,000 litres of fake cold drinks here and arrested three persons including sales manager of the company.

According to the public relations officer of the authority, Attaullah Khan, the beverages were spotted during distribution at diff outlets in the provincial metropolis.

He said that a raiding party headed by additional assistant director of the authority reached the godown by chasing the distribution vehicle. The raiding party seized the beverages and arrested three persons.

The arrested persons were handed over to local police for presenting them to the food authority for further legal proceedings. They will be dealt under KP Food Safety Act, 2014.

The official said that the godown of the company was located in Pabbi and further investigation was underway to confirm proper location of the production unit. He said that mostly such production units were located in residential localities.

Meanwhile, KP Food Authority Director General Sohail Khan in a statement issued here said that as result of frequent raids network of fake cold drinks producers was disconnected in the city and the production units were shifted to outskirts to avert raids.
