PML-N vice president Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that in times of medical crisis, governments across the world develop a four-point strategy, which comprises:

  • awareness

  • containment

  • medical response

  • economic management

Speaking on the floor of the parliament, Abbasi said that the government had not developed any strategy to deal with the current health crisis. Though the government has launched websites, it did not run an effective awareness campaign, he said. He also raised questions over the ambiguity of the government's lockdown plan as well as the protocols designed for testing and treatment of patients.

The former prime minister also demanded the government to provide details of the money it spent on medical equipment, the prime minister's volunteer force and other measures taken to combat the virus.
