KHAR: The doctors and paramedics of the district headquarters hospital held a demonstration here on Friday evening against the torture of their colleagues allegedly by the PTI activists, including supporters of a PTI lawmaker.

The emergency and casualty department of the hospital remained closed during the protest, which lasted two hours.

The protesters told reporters here that the PTI activists beat up some facility members with sticks after heated exchanges inside the hospital.

They demanded the administration and police book attackers and give them exemplary punishment.

The doctors and paramedics ended protest and resumed work after a delegation of the district administration led by Khar subdivision assistant commissioner Fazal Raheem met them and assured them of early resolution of their grievances.

Also, a delegation of PTI workers led by Dr Hameedur Rehman and Ishaq Zia visited the hospital and met the protesting doctors and paramedics.

They said all PTI activists, including MNA Gul Zafar Khan, had showed anger at the incident.

The PTI leaders claimed that the clash between PTI workers and health workers was actually erupted when a staff member of the hospital’s information desk refused to provide them with information about a patient admitted to the premises.
