LAHORE: A travel agent was allegedly kidnapped for Rs4m ransom from the Green Town area on Friday.

Identified as Imran Ali, the travel agent was a resident of the Military Accounts Housing Society.

A few hours after he went missing, his wife got a call of an unidentified person who told her that he had kidnapped Imran and asked her to arrange Rs4m for his release. He also threatened her with dire consequences for not providing him ransom or reporting the matter to police.

Saddar Division SP Operations Ghazanfar Ali Syed confirmed to Dawn about the incident, saying the matter looked doubtful. He said the family of Imran was not sharing details with police, even not telling them about location of his office, his partners or the people with whom he had monetary disputes.

“It was shocking for the police when Imran’s family, including his wife and brothers, clearly told the investigators that they were unaware of the exact location of his office,” the SP said.

However, setting aside all these issues, the police teams were trying to trace the kidnapper by obtaining the call record, the SP said.
