The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Young Doctors Association (YDA) has condemned the provincial government's move to confine medical professionals to their rooms after an assistant professor tested positive for the virus in Bannu.

In a statement, the YDA said: "Two days ago an assistant professor in Bannu had tested positive for the virus.

"Today, the district administration was informed of the situation and they decided to confine all medical professionals to their rooms and stationed police officers outside their doors."

They are being treated like animals, the YDA said, adding that there are no proper arrangements to provide the young doctors with food or water.
