TAXILA: As many as 10 confirmed Covid-19 patients recovered from the disease in Attock.

District focal person on Covid-19 Dr Asif Arbab Niazi said a woman from Pindigheb, a resident of Attock and eight Iran-returned pilgrims have been allowed to join their families.

Responding to a question, he said there were 41 positive cases in the district and they were in a stable condition.

“The positive cases included 21 local transmissions. Since the outbreak of the disease, 617 suspected cases were reported and so far 392 have been declared negative while results of 184 are awaited from the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad.

During the last 24 hours, no positive case has been reported, he added.

He said 73 Tableeghi jamaat members were quarantined and 67 of them have been declared negative and sent home while six were found positive for the virus but were in a stable condition.

He said 21 people were still under isolation at different quarantine centres. Dr Niazi said there were 14 quarantine centres across the district with a capacity to facilitate 1,073 patients.

“Three quarantine centres are in Attock, four in Hazro, one in Hassanabdal, two in Fatehjang, three in Pindigheb and one in Jand,” he added.

PPE distributed

The local chapter of Pakistan Association of Family Physicians (PAFP) distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) among officials of the health department, including hospitals and quarantine centres.

Office-bearers of PAFP led by its president Dr Syed Asad Ali distributed the PPE, including face masks and tyvek protective suits, among doctors, paramedics, laboratory personnel and officials appointed at quarantine centres along with Rescue 1122 staff.
