Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Boradcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government aims to increase the country's testing capacity to 20,000 tests daily by May.

She added the increase in the number of patients was also due to increased testing capacity. "We started with some 472 tests a day, now we conduct between 7,000 to 8,000 tests daily. More tests means higher number of patients," she said.

She added that the National Disaster Management Authority also aimed to increase the number of testing labs across the country from 40 to 60 through public-private partnership.
