HARIPUR, Jan 17: Despite the passage of one week the Haripur police could not find any clue to the culprits involved in the murder of three members of a family.

District Nazim Dr Raja Aamir Zaman had also directed the district police chief to mount brisk action to nab the culprits but to no avail.

It may be recalled that on Jan 8 some unknown bandits — reportedly six to ten in number — barged into the house of one Iqbal Shah, a local shopkeeper, and shot him, his brother and mother dead besides injuring two brothers who had put up resistance.

Since this was the third case of its kind in the district in a space of 60 days, it sparked unrest among the locals who in clear terms suspected the inefficiency of police officials and demanded transfer of their top officials.

However, a police source told Dawn that the investigation officers had interrogated over 100 suspects from the surrounding areas in connection with the case. They quizzed them in their traditional way, the source added.
