Delegates visit museum

PESHAWAR, Sept 2: Delegates from foreign countries paid a visit to the Peshawar museum on Thursday. The delegates from England, Ireland, China, Japan, Russia and Germany accompanied by Dr Azmat Hayat Khan, director of the Area Study Centre, Peshawar University, were received and briefed in the museum by Director Archaeology and Museum Dr Ihsan Ali and Mr Irshad Zamil, research officer, said a press statement.

The delegates took keen interest in the collection of the Gandhara Art and ethnological tribal and Islamic collection.

The delegates expressed interest when they learnt about the plan of the NWFP government for establishing seven new archaeological museums at Charsadda — the first capital of Gandhara, Hund — the last capital of Gandhara, Bammburet—the centre of Kalash Valley, Mardan, Chitral, Bannu and Gor Khuttree.

The director presented booklets about the Peshawar museum to the delegates. Later, they took a round of the old city of Peshawar.—PPI
