LAHORE: The MCB Bank has donated personal protection equipment (PPE) worth Rs10 million to the Punjab specialised healthcare and medical education department for doctors and medical workers on the frontline in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

The bank’s chairman, Mian Mohammad Mansha, handed over the PPE donation to provincial health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid.

Covid-19 posed great danger to doctors and paramedics handling and treating infected patients, an announcement by the bank said on Saturday. Due to this, there was immense pressure on the health sector and many healthcare facilities were finding themselves in the difficult position of providing sufficient essential protective equipment to their medical staff, it added.

The bank’s PPE donation comprises N-95 masks, protective clothing, latex examination gloves, protective glasses, caps and shoe covers. The PPE consignment comprises locally sourced as well as imported equipment that is FDA/CE/CNS certified.

Meanwhile, packaging brand Tetra Pak donated Rs20m to the Prime Minister’s Covid-19 Pandemic Relief Fund, said a press release.

The contribution will be used to support those who have been rendered destitute because of the ongoing lockdown imposed to curb the virus spread.
