GUJRAT: The Gujrat Municipal Corporation (GtMC) has launched its own disinfection drive by converting its sewer jetting machine into disinfection spray machine through modifications.

Mehmood Iqbal Gondal, the chief officer of the municipal corporation, told Dawn the sewer jetting machine had been converted into a hydro spray machine through installation of nozzles on its all four sides. He said the machine could again be used as a jetting machine whenever required for cleaning blockage of sewerage.

Earlier, the fire engines of the Rescue 1122 were being used in disinfection drive launched by the authorities in Gujrat district and now the civic body of the district headquarters had got i’s own disinfectant machines through minor modifications.

The disinfection drive was launched by Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Dr Khurram Shahzad on Thursday and the Mist Queen started its first operation from the compound of the complex that had all important offices, including those of the district administration.
