FAISALABAD, Sept 1: The Lahore High Court record in the Sonia Naz case negates the claims of SP Abdullah Khalid and Inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti who had apprehended in advance before the court that the woman might level rape allegations against them.

The court record revealed that the first order on the writ petition No 3422/05, filed by Sonia Naz, was issued by Justice Rustam Ali Malik on March 9 this year, directing SP Abdullah and inspector Jamshed to produce petitioner’s husband Asim.

The same direction was issued on April 12 to both officials for their appearance in court as well as production of the detenu. A week later — on April 19 — SP Abdullah appeared before the court and denied arresting Asim Yousaf. However, he requested a week’s time to trace the detenu and produce him before the court.

On April 27, he told the court that he had failed to locate Asim and sought more time. Later on May 6, the SP informed the court that Sonia was not joining investigation and during the next hearing on 17th of the same month, he iterated that Asim could not be traced.

During all hearings before Justice Rustam Ali Malik, the accused SP did not record any such statement that Sonia could level allegations of rape against him — a claim which he is now making.

VEHICLES’ RECOVERY: The special investigation team with the help of the local police officials took into custody 12 vehicles, which were seized by SP Abdullah and his men by harassing the people.

According to sources, the vehicles had been recovered from the house of the suspended SP, private cells of Jamshed and some other police personnel.
