KARACHI, Jan 17: The Sindh government and the WAPDA officials have agreed to resolve amicably the issue of electricity bills outstanding against the provincial government departments.

A high-level meeting was held here at the governor’s house on Thursday to ensure payment of outstanding amount according to the time-frame.

The meeting was attended by governor Muhammadmian Soomro, Wapda chairman Zulfiqar Ali Khan, GOC Tariq Muhammad Qazi, Chief Secretary Javed Ashraf Hussain, principal secretary to the governor Akhtar Zamin and other high officials of Wapda and the provincial government.

Governor Soomro urged the officials of the provincial government and local government for timely payment of their power bills.

He said the government had resolved to solve the issues pending since long and it got itself rid of the over-draft through financial discipline and administrative steps.

He warned that there must not be practice of deferring payments of utility bills in future and all the bills be paid without any delay.—PPI
