DERA GHAZI KHAN: Border military police of the Khar police station foiled an attempt to damage the newly-built one of world’s rare steel bridges on Dera-Quetta Road at Girdu mountain, and registered a case against 10 suspects, of them six are nominated, sources told Dawn.

Khar police station Station House Officer (SHO) Nasrullah Baloch told Dawn that on being alerted, a team, led by him, raided the incident place and found at least 10 suspects cutting the pillars of the steel bridge with powerful cutters and other electric equipment.

Seeing the raiding party, the suspects managed to flee on motorcycles.

The police party chased them and succeeded to arrest Abdullah, of Fort Munro, and seized cutting equipment from him.

SHO Nasrullah maintained that a case was registered against 10 suspects under sections 431 (inflicting damage to national asset), 149, 147 and 379 of Pakistan Penal Code.

He claimed that he was being pressurised by the suspects not to pursue the case.
