LAHORE: Technical and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta), in collaboration with Enablers, a private organisation, on Thursday launched ‘Khushhal Puraman Pakistan’ for e-training and e-employment, especially of the youth and women, for promotion of gig economy.

Tevta Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique and Enablers Skill Development Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saqib Azhar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch “E-Commerce Specialist Course (ESC)”.

MPA Aisha Nawaz and Tevta Chief Operating Officer Akhtar Abbas Bharwana were also present.

Under the programme, five hundred students will be offered a two-month free online ESC diploma. This virtual e-commerce training will help students to earn on the world renowned platforms like Amazon, eBay, Daraz etc along with the provision of e-employment free of cost to 500 students in the pilot phase of the scheme.

Mr Siddique said they were making efforts for extension of online training to the students at their homes in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. He said the online training was launched as a pilot project and its scope would be extended further. Speaking on the objectives of the programme, he said it was aimed at economic rejuvenation, enabling students within a period of three to six weeks to generate income from their homes upon completion of their training.

The Tevta chairperson added that 30pc of the seats were reserved for female students who would be able to earn valuable foreign exchange for the country through engaging in activity with international platforms such as Amazon and eBay etc.

He said Pakistan was enjoying number four position in the field of freelancing in the world and these courses would not only enable students to earn a respectable living in foreign exchange but would also go towards consolidation of Pakistan’s position in the field of global freelancing.

Mr Salman said online registration for admission to the ESC had commenced and interested students could benefit for this free course by visiting Tevta website and following instructions.

MPA Ayesha Nawaz urged women to avail this opportunity and take advantage of 30pc seats reserved for them and start earning a respectable living from their homes after completing the course.
