HARIPUR: District Development Advisory Committee chairman and MPA Arshad Ayub Khan on Wednesday said the PTI government was utilising all possible resources to provide the best possible health facilities to the people, especially those living in the neglected remote areas.

During a surprise visit to the Rural Health Centre, Hally, here, the DDAC chairman said health reforms was one of the top priorities of the PTI government as Prime Minister Imran Khan was concerned about the people’s misery caused by lack of proper healthcare in most parts of the country.

He said the previous governments paid little attention to the resolution of health issues in countryside areas but the PTI’s government had been striving to provide the best healthcare to the people on their doorstep.

Mr Arshad said the ruling PTI had successfully achieved the objectives of reforms in the system of governance, education, police and revenue departments.

He said the government had hired hundreds of doctors and paramedics to fill vacancies, while more were being recruited to cater to the needs of the people, especially the residents of remote areas, which were neglected by the successive governments.

The DDAC chairman also visited different wards of the hospital and accepted the administration’s request for the provision of a power transformer to address low voltage, repair of offices, wards and washrooms, installation of new X-ray plant, supply of lab equipment, and filling of the vacant posts of doctors and paramedics.

The hospital, which was put up three decades ago, lacks staff and facilities.

TWO END LIFE: Two people committed suicide in different parts of Haripur district, police said on Tuesday.

According to the Serae Saleh police, Mohammad Arshad, 42, consumed pesticide in Basti Sher Khan village over psychological stress.

He was shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre, where the doctors washed his stomach but he didn’t survive.

The police also said Mohammad Zahid, 18, ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his Mohallah Maira house. The reason for suicide was not known.
