KASUR:Phoolnagar city police on Sunday arrested a man and registered a blasphemy case against him for allegedly uploading hate material on social media.

According to police sources, Saleem Akhtar of Safanwala locality of Phoolnagar filed a complaint against the suspect, a resident of the same area, alleging that he had uploaded hate material on social media that could fan sectarianism.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the suspect, booked him for blasphemy and shifted him to an undisclosed location for further investigation and to avert any violent public reaction.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead allegedly over old enmity on Sunday near Kanganpur Railway Station.

Kanganpur police said Kamal Din was shot dead by unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle when he was returning home from the village mosque.

The attackers managed to escape.

Initial police investigation showed the deceased was released from jail in 2018 after serving a 10-year term for murder andhad enmity with his rivals for several years.
