ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: The parliamentary committee on the Seventh Wage Board Award for newspaper employees held a meeting with representatives of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) to discuss the standoff on the issue.

The parliamentary committee, headed by Pakistan

Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, listened to concerns of the newspapers owners and decided to form a core group of the committee to finalize proposals for consideration of the main committee.

The committee will meet again on September 6.

The meeting was attended by PML Secretary-General Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, PML Information Secretary and Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Senator Tariq Azeem Khan, parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shahid Rafi, APNS President Mir Shakilur Rehman, CPNE President Arif Nizami, Hameed Haroon, Zia Shahid, Mujeebur Rehman Shami and Arshad Zuberi.
