Published August 31, 2005

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: The Federal Bureau of Statistics has recently launched the Labour Force Survey 2005-06. For more timely assessment of the labour, the survey is being carried out on quarterly basis, with urban & rural breakdown, based on a representative sample of 33,000 households.

The survey will cover the characteristics of labour force such as age, sex, marital status, level of education and migration of the population. It will produce estimates on employed labour force by industry with their status on employment, education and occupation. The size of unemployed labour force by level of education and experience will also be estimated. The main findings on the parameters of the survey such as literacy rate, participation rate, size of employment, and unemployment by industry as well as informal sector will be compared to estimate of survey 2001-02 and survey 2003-2004.
