The Ministry of Human Rights has requested the Attorney General to submit a brief on the "urgent need" to release sick prisoners to the Supreme Court citing prison conditions, as a precautionary measure to control the spread of Covid-19.
The brief also calls for the release of prisoners with underlying health conditions, those entitled to bail under non-prohibitory clause and under-trial prisoners.
