IN the face of the unprecedented coronavirus crisis, Prime Minister Imran Khan, by his words and deeds, has emerged as a pragmatic statesman of global stature. With his sincerity, honesty and integrity already proverbial, one can rest assured of being in safe hands.

Even his critics and columnists opposed to him are forced to pay tribute to his leadership. I take this as a tribute to Mr Khan’s visionary statesmanship.

He is not in favour of a countywide lockdown simply because he cares for the poor and the downtrodden who may not survive the consequent starvation, giving another heart-rending dimension to the virus tragedy. The PM is absolutely right.

Those politicians who are raising the ‘do more’ slogan should wake up to the reality and, instead of wasting time in holding meetings and making meaningless statements, should strengthen the hands of the prime minister with large-hearted donations that may enable the government to meet the realistic demands of the nation.
