KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has conveyed to top Rangers and police officers the journalist community’s concern regarding behaviour with media people on the part of some security personnel deployed on roads to implement lockdown.

A handout issued here on Thursday said that the minister contacted top Rangers and police officers and apprised them of the reservations expressed by the journalist community, as well as other people engaged in delivering essential services.

The information minister told the officers to convey to all security personnel deployed on the roads in Karachi to improve their attitude with journalists and other people engaged in delivering essential services.

Mr Shah said that the concerns should be addressed immediately.

The top Rangers and police officers told the minister that necessary instructions in this regard had been given to the security personnel deployed on roads asking them not to misbehave with journalists and other people allowed by government to perform their duties, according to the handout.

The minister said that journalists should also cooperate with the security personnel, it said, adding that they must carry with them their office card and CNIC while performing their duties.

According to the handout, Mr Shah said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had also called for immediately addressing the journalist community’s concerns.
