RAWALPINDI: The government has suspended the operation of all types of domestic scheduled and non-scheduled chartered and private aircraft passenger flights from Thursday till April 2.

The move came about as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of coronavirus which had already forced the government to suspend international flight operation till April 4.

A spokesman for the Aviation Division said in a statement that the government after due consultation with all airline operators had decided to suspend all types of domestic scheduled / non-scheduled chartered and private aircraft passenger flights. He said the suspension of domestic flights will not apply on cargo and special flights subjected to necessary clearance.

On Monday, Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport and the Sukkur airport were closed for all types of incoming and outgoing domestic flights.

After the closure of flight operation, the domestic flights to and from Karachi had been suspended; however, some flights were still operating in other airports.
