LARKANA: The family of senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and lawmaker Ayaz Soomro, who died during treatment of cardiac ailment at a Manhattan hospital in New York on March 20, 2018 at the age of 59, received an amount of over Rs29 million last Tuesday (March 17) on account of his medical expenses.

Mr Soomro was elected a member of the Sindh Assembly from PS-37 Larkana in 2002 and 2008 general elections and also served as minister for law and parliamentary affairs in the cabinet of chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Later, he won the NA-204 seat in the 2013 general election.

The medical bills amounting to Rs29,154,508 were approved on Nov 18, 2019 and the amount was disbursed to the family on March 17, 2020.
