MARDAN: The district administration, Mardan, locked down Manga village here on Thursday after the death of Saadat Khan who was confirmed with coronavirus by the doctors of Mardan Medical Complex hospital.

The officials concerned have taken 25 family members of the deceased to the quarantine centre established in Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, for necessary tests and other precautionary measures.

Dr Javed Iqbal, focal person for Mardan complex hospital, said that blood samples of three family members had been sent to Islamabad for coronavirus test.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Abid Wazir while issuing orders for lockdown of Manga village had imposed a ban on the entry and exit of the village people so as to stop spread of the virus to other areas.

He also issued a notification for establishment of three quarantine centers in Abdul Wali Khan University’s main campus and Government Postgraduate College, Mardan.

The family members of deceased Sadaat Khan, meanwhile, complained that they along with their women were taken to isolation centres for necessary tests, but were not provided any facilities.

Meanwhile, IGP Sanullah Khan on Thursday visited the quarantine centre at Abdul Wali Khan University and checked security arrangements there. He was accompanied by DIG Sher Akbar Khan, DPO Sajjad Khan and other officials.

Talking to mediapersons, he said that the KP police were standing with masses in this difficult time and would fully cooperate with them. He asked police personnel to remain alert so as to maintain law and order situation in the city.
