LAHORE: The government on Thursday transferred Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Sumair Ahmad Syed and posted him as additional secretary (welfare, S&GAD).

The government appointed Ahmad Aziz Tarar, Secretary (Coordination) to the CM as LDA chief, who will be the fourth DG of Lahore’s top civic agency during the last 20 months or so.

During the interim period, before the general elections, the then Punjab government replaced the then DG Mian Shakeel, appointing Ms Amna Imran Khan as new LDA chief on June 23, 2018. Ms Amna not only worked during the entire period of the interim government but also continued with same position for about one year. And finally the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government in Punjab transferred her, appointing Mr Usman Moazzam as new LDA DG on May 27, 2019, who took over the charge very next day.

Mr Moazzam couldn’t sustain for a long time in LDA, as the government also transferred him on Dec 3 last year. On Dec 4, the government appointed Mr Sumair Ahmad Syed (former Lahore DC) as new LDA DG. But the government also transferred him on March 19 (Thursday) after he himself showed disinterest in continuing with this post.

Meanwhile, the new LDA DG Ahmad Aziz took over the charge of the office and held meetings with the senior officials. He also held meeting with the LDA vice chairman besides meeting with the media representatives.

“I will try to make maximum efforts to improve service delivery in the LDA,” he said while talking to media.
