Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi — after returning from a two-day visit to China accompanying President Arif Alvi — has said he will self-isolate for five days.

Talking to Geo News he said: "Before going, we were tested by the National Institute of Health and were cleared. Immediately after landing [in China] further tests, including a blood panel, were conducted. Only after this were our meetings arranged."

He added that the entire delegation was tested once again before leaving China, the results of which will be received today.

"Despite this, I have made a personal decision to self-isolate and will get tested again after five days. I will resume my interactions once the test results come back negative," he said, adding that "if we set an example, people will follow".
