Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has decided to keep educational institutions across the province closed until May 31, spokesperson for the Sindh government Barrister Murtaza Wahab said.
The period would count as summer vacations.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani said that matric examinations for ninth and 10th grade, which were to start on March 16 have also been "suspended".
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the provincial cabinet on Thursday night.
