‘Watan Dost wins in Lahore’

Published August 27, 2005

LAHORE, Aug 26: Seventeen panels backed by the Watan Dost group won in Lahore despite all irregularities committed by the government, three leaders of the Jamaat-i-Islami claimed on Friday.

MNA Hafiz Salman Butt, Amirul Azeem and Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry said in a joint statement that a fact sheet would soon be released to expose how the polls were rigged.

They said they had informed the election commission about the irregularities, but the latter failed to take notice.

JUP leaders Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori and Qari Zawwar Bahadur also alleged that the polls had been rigged. —Staff Reporter
