KASUR: A youth was buried alive under a huge mass of soil while digging earth in a well at Saraiser village in the limits of Allahabad police station on Wednesday.

As per the police, Abu Huraira (15), went down a well that was half dug to install an electric motor for the tube-well.

When Huraira started further digging, a big mass of soil fell on him, burying him alive. The locals on self-help basis removed the soil after hectic efforts, finding the boy dead. They retrieve the body and handed it over to the boy’s family.

On Monday, a woman and her two daughters were buried alive under soil when they were digging earth to build a cattle pen.

INJURED: Two women and a toddler suffered injuries when the roof of their mud house collapsed in a heavy spell of rain on Wednesday at Dhoopsari village in the limits of Kot Radha Kishan police.

The police said the roof of a room of the house of a village resident, Gulzar, caved in during rain, leaving three of the family members injured.

The injured persons were identified as Bushra Bibi, 32, Maria (20) and three-year-old Ali Ahmed.

Rescue 1122 personnel called to the spot shifted the injured to the local tehsil headquarters hospital where they were said to be state.

DPO: The district police officer handed over 21 motorbikes to the policemen for giving quick a rapid response in cases of child abuse on Wednesday at the Police Lines.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat said the step was taken to empower the policemen for performing their duty. He said as many as 60 policemen, including sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors trained in for the job at police’s Chohung Training Centre, Lahore, in Feburary.

Later, these policemen were appointed in all the 20 police stations of the district and had been instructed to deal with the child abuse cases on priority.

The step had been taken after a tragic incident in Chunian in which four children were strangled after being abused and were buried by the killer in the sand dunes.

In another incident, Chunian police had arrested two suspects in Canada Colony for alleged gang rape of an eight-year-old boy.
