HUB, Oct 14: An export processing zone (EPZ) will be set up at Hub Industrial and Trading Estate, and about 125 acres land has been acquired for this purpose, Managing-Director of Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority (Lieda), Col (retd) Basheer Nadeem, told newsmen during a briefing here on Saturday.

The briefing was held at Lieda Rest House where all departmental heads were present.

Lieda MD said that a draft law regarding the EPZ was under preparation and after its completion it would be reviewed by a board of governors of LIEDA and then forwarded to the Governor for final approval.

He maintained that land with a complete infrastructure was available in Sector E of HITE for this purpose and after the declaration of the EPZ it would be allocated for this purpose.

He said that he would try to get the whole Gadani Industrial Area declared the export processing zone.

Talking about the silent features of Lieda he said the entire industrial area was very peaceful and pollution-free and electricity and water were available at nominal charges which were 75 per cent less than Karachi. He said gas and telephone facilities were also available at Lieda.

Presenting statistics about the land he said about 182 acres land was available for allotment at HITE with Rs200 per square meter in installation charges and Rs150 per square meters on lump sum payment,” he said.

Giving details of the land available at Winder Industrial and Trading Estate he said 81 acres land was available at the rate of Rs80 per square meter in installation and Rs65 on lump sum payment. He said at Uthal Industrial Estate about 668 acres land was available at Rs100,000 per acre and added that at Gadani Industrial Area about 600 acres land was available at Rs250 per square meter in installation and Rs225 on lump sum amount.
