ISLAMABAD: The Judi­cial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Wednes­day recommended elevation of Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of the Lahore High Court as judge of the Supreme Court.

Earlier on Feb 10, the JCP had recommended the elevation of senior puisne judge Justice Mohammad Qasim Khan as the next Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.

Presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed, the JCP meeting was also attended by Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Maqbool Baqar in addition to other members of the commission.

When elevated, Justice Naqvi will fill the office of the judge in the Supreme Court that fell vacant after the retirement of former chief justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
