Employees Union wins PTV polls

ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: The Employees Union has won the referendum both at the PTV headquarters as well as the PTV World by defeating its rival Workers Union on Tuesday.

At the headquarters the Employees Union won with a narrow margin of 52 votes. It bagged 463 votes out of a total of 874 votes.

Tariq Waqar Qadoosi was elected chairman, while Malik Shabir and Akram Bunda were elected president and general-secretary, respectively.

The PTV Workers Union got only 411 votes.

Similarly at the PTV World, the Employees Union got 120 votes while its opponent the Trust could get only 78 votes.

Akram Pirzada was elected chairman, Mohammad Rashid president and Mohammad Khalid Khan secretary-general.

After winning the referendum, the Employees Union office-bearers assured all the members that efforts would be made to solve the problems of the workers.

Meanwhile Mohammad Hanif Abbasi, former President of Anjuman Tajran was elected unopposed President of the Anjuman Tajran-i-Adviat.
