KARACHI: MQM man shot dead

KARACHI, Aug 24: An MQM activist was shot dead by his friend in Azizabad on Wednesday. According to police, Khan Rehan Habib, his wife Sadaf Rehan Habib, and Syed Rehan Ahmed were travelling in a car. When they reached Block 8, Azizabad, a scuffle broke out between the two which led to an exchange of fire.

Khan Rehan and his wife suffered a bullet wound and Syed Rehan Ahmed sustained a bullet wound in his thigh.

Both were taken to Aga Khan Hospital where Rehan Habib was pronounced dead and Rehan Ahmed was admitted for treatment.

Sadaf was rushed to Liaquat Hospital where she was being operated upon. Sources in the police said Khan Rehan Habib was a former guard of Altaf Husain. Police have impounded the car and recovered two TT pistols.

DIES: A boy died when the roof of a storm-water drain collapsed on Shahrah-i-Quaideen.

Police said a group of three addict scavengers were present on the stormwater drain when it suddenly collapsed. Two boys fell into the drain. One boy was rescued.
