Gomal University

THE students of Gomal University have been protesting against the increase in fees and other demands. The students say that they should not be saddled with unjustified higher fees.

According to Higher Education Commission guidelines, the Gomal University hostel fee should be Rs 22,000, while the university administration has increased the hostel fee from the present Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000, a 40 per cent increase. The protesting students are demanding that the fees be raised to Rs 27000.

Similarly the university administration has raised the tuition fee for the pharmacy department and veterinary sciences department from Rs 122,000 to Rs 166,000 and from Rs 120,000 to Rs175,000 respectively which is very steep.

The students feel aggrieved that instead of resolving these issues Gomal University administration has ordered the students to vacate the hostels. The higher authorities should direct the university administration to set its house in order and probe their affairs.
