VEHARI: A team of the district administration sealed a private godown at Adda Gulam Husain about 25km from here and recovered 5,000 sugar bags on Friday.

Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Naveed Baloch raided a godown situated at Adda Gulam Husain and found a huge stock of sugar. He had a case registered against the owner, Ali Raza and fined him Rs50,000.

Mr Naveed told Dawn that no one would be allowed to hoard essential items and create an artificial shortage.

He said the raid was conducted as part of the crackdown on hoarders and profiteers. The assistant commissioner refused to bow down to pressure and said action had been taken strictly in accordance with law.
