TIMERGARA: As many as 11 students of 8th and 9th grades were injured when a portion of a private school in Namsair area collapsed during construction work here on Thursday.

Residents said the injured students were taken to RHC Khall while two of them were referred to the DHQ hospital, Timergara. Some of the students, according to hospital sources, have suffered bone fractures.

The residents said that construction work on the second storey of the school building was in progress when the roof of two classrooms caved in. Later, deputy commissioner Saadat Hassan directed district education officer Ghulam Nabi Khan to conduct a proper inquiry into the matter.

Assistant commissioner Shah Jamil visited the DHQ hospital and asked its management to provide proper medical care to the students.

Meanwhile, 12 people, including children, were injured when two passenger coaches collided near Khungi area.

One of the coaches (C-8644) was coming to Timergara from Swat and the other was bound for Peshawar. The injured, most of them from Upper Dir, were taken to the DHQ hospital.
