LAHORE, Aug 23: The Federal Investigation Agency took seven people into custody from the Badami Bagh general bus stand on Monday for trying to reach Greece on doctored documents.

Inspector Farhat Abbas told Dawn on Tuesday that Amer Shahzad, Saqib Mahmood, Yasin, Khizar Hayat, Sheraz, Shahnaz Tabassum and Munir of Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Sialkot were to board a Quetta-bound bus when they were taken into custody on a tip-off.

They said that they had paid Rs30,000 each to the agents — Rashid, Badshah, Jaffer Sadique, Arshad, Imran and Mahmood — to arrange their travel to Greece via Quetta and Turkey.

The official said the intending migrants had to pay Rs400,000 after reaching the destination.

A case has been registered against the agents.
