KARACHI: Yamaha Motor Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd (YMPPL) for the second time in the current year has raised prices of different models of motorbike by Rs7,000-9,500 effective from Feb 17.

On Jan 1 the company had increased prices by Rs2,500-3,500. The new price of Yamaha YB125Z, YBR125G and YBR125 will be Rs146,000, Rs172,000 and Rs156,000 as compared to Rs139,000, Rs163,500 and Rs156,000 respectively.

Increase in prices appears surprising when imports are getting cheaper in view of rupee’s appreciation against the dollar. In June one dollar was available at Rs164 as compared to current rate of Rs155.

Yamaha was the only company whose sales had shown positive trend to 14,922 in the 7MFY20 from 14,622 units in same period last year. Other assemblers suffered sales decline.
