BAHAWALPUR: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, taking notice of an incident of alleged torture of a woman by her husband and in-laws, has sought a report from inspector general of police within 24 hours.

According to police, the victim, Mussarat Kamran, a resident of Bhatta No 1, Abbas Colony, on Ahmedpur East Road was allegedly tortured by her husband and in-laws when she tried to stopped her husband from visiting his second wife.

The husband, in connivance with his relatives allegedly cut her hair and subjected her to severe torture.

The Cantonment police on the complaint of the victim registered an FIR (No 87/20) under sections 334 and 337(V) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against her husband Malik Kamran and his three relatives, including Umair,Ayyaz Gohar.

Public relations officer to the district police officer said the injured woman was sent to hospital for her medical examination, while police were looking for the suspects.

PFA RAID: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) officials accompanied by police unearthed a “fake milk factory”, in a raid on Thursday.

According to police, a PFA team, along with police, conducted a raid on a compound near Khairpur Tamewali, about 45kms from here, unearthing a unit where fake milk was being manufactured with the help of chemicals.

The PFA officials said the ingredients of fake milk were injurious to human health. The raiding team discarded about 75kg fake milk and other material in large quantity.

The team sealed the unit and registered a case against its owner Zafar Iqbal, who managed to flee the compound before the raid.
