Research quality

Published February 12, 2020

Lack of research quality in Pakistan needs the Higher Education Commission’s special attention. Reforms are needed in the HEC’s education policies if its wants to improve research quality. It should isolate the research centres from academic institutions as they cannot work well together.

The professors and research personnel hired by universities have an exceptional knowledge of science and technology. But because of being overburdened with academic responsibilities they do not have enough time for research students.

Every developed country has established separate research centres, which helps in utilising young researchers’ talents.

Moreover, in an underdeveloped country like Pakistan most research students belong to middle-class families who cannot spend a huge amount of money to meet all their projects’ requirements.

Thus HEC should provide funds to every MPhil and PhD student.
