Waris wins Olympic Day Run

LAHORE, Aug 21: Mohammad Waris of Navy won the 10km Olympic Day Run held on Sunday. Army claimed the remaining five position of the race. They were Said Akbar, Mohammad Qaiser, Mohammad Fayyaz, Nazir Hussain and Mohammad Aslam.

The winner pocketed Rs 10,000 the runner-up Rs 5,000. Third position taker received Rs 4,000 while the fourth taken home Rs 4,000. The fifth and the sixth got Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000.

The special prize to a 60-year-old Professor Mohammad Rafiq and 11-year-old Robin Jackson were also given for completing the distance.

In all, 500 runners took part in the race which started from the Punjab Stadium and finished at the same place after passing through Ferozepur Road, The Lahore Canal,The Mall, back from the Canal.
