GUJRAT: The local administration has proposed the establishment of 1,000-bed mother and child care hospital in Gujrat.

The proposal of such a health facility has been included in the list of 14 different health sector development projects that are being forwarded for allocation of funds in the next year’s annual development budget.

The upgrade of the Kotla Arab Ali Khan civil hospital from 30 beds to 60 beds tehsil headquarters level hospital has also been proposed in the next years development plan.

This was stated by DC Dr Khurram Shahzad while chairing an official meeting to review the progress on uplift schemes of the district here on Monday where deputy director development Jahangeer Butt and other officials were also present.

The DC said the 1,000 beds hospital would be established somewhere near Shadiwal town for which the land revenue department had been tasked to search a suitable location.

He said the project might cost a sum of Rs 8 billion whereas a sum of Rs 500 million would be required for the upgrade of the Kotla civil hospital.Meanwhile, 32 farmers have been selected through a ballot for the provision of agri appliances on 50 per cent subsidised rates in Gujrat district.
