Aqeel-Asim beaten in Tehran

KARACHI, Aug 20: Pakistan No. 1 Aqeel Khan and Asim Shafik lost to Iranian pair in the final of men’s doubles event of International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Two event in Tehran on Friday. According to the results of the world ranking tournament made available on Saturday, Aqeel-Asim were trounced by Iran’s Shahgholi and Shahkoufi in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

This was Pakistan’s second defeat in the double’s event final in the ongoing tour made as preparation for Davis Cup clash against giants Chile in Santiago next month. Earlier, the two Davis Cuppers lost to the same duo in the Futures One event held last week.—PPI
