Three killed over election rivalry

FAISALABAD, Aug 20: Three people were killed and one seriously injured when an armed group opened fire on an election office in Union Council No.183, Sanatpura here on Friday night.

Reports said about two dozen supporters of nazim candidate Khawaja Ijaz Ahmed Munna were sitting at his election office when some armed men came and opened fire.

As a result of which four people sustained critical bullet wounds and were immediately shifted to Allied Hospital. Later, Ataur Rehman, Zulfiqar Ali and Malik Maqsood died while the condition of Maqsood’s brother Feroz was stated to be critical.

Jhang Bazaar police have registered a case against Ishtiaq Sheikh, Fayyaz Sheikh, Imran Sheikh, Kamran, Rizwan Sheikh and others.

Defunct Faisalabad municipal corporation former mayor Malik Muhammad Ashraf and deputy mayor Khawaja Ijaz Ahmed Munna are contesting for UC-183 nazim slot.

This constituency is most sensitive and clashes are a normal practice.
