Margalla road

THE extension of the main Margalla road which touches GT Road at Sangjani Toll Plaza is one of the most important thoroughfares of Islamabad which has been neglected for years.Work on this road was started some years back but stopped due to unknown reasons.

Currently thousands of commuters who come to Islamabad daily are forced to waste long hours and a lot of wear and tear of their vehicles due to the non-availability of this short route to the capital.

The portion of Grand Trunk Road from Hasnabdal to Rawat is the most congested with traffic part because it links the Northern Areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Hazara, with the southern part of the country and the port city of Karachi. The heavy traffic volume because of the Hattar industrial area and stone crushing area of Taxila/Burhan further adds to the traffic jams. Fatal accidents between Taxila and Golra More Islamabad daily have become a common feature on this portion of the road.

In case the Margalla road is extended up to Sangjani toll plaza, tens of thousands of commuters will benefit daily.
