KARACHI, Aug 19: Berthing activity was slow as only one container vessel, Al-Isha’s, was allotted berth at QICT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday. Berth occupancy stood at 67 per cent as six ships were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, edible oil, chemicals and seeds.

A cargo volume of 35,393 tons comprising 22,655 tons of import and 12,738 tons of export tonnage was handled. Sailing was active as Ginga Tiger left the port while Contship Indigo, Al-Isha’a and Washington Trader were due to depart.

Two ships, Amasis and Anette Kosan, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage. Four ships, Lissy Schulte, Maersk Alaska, Condor and Keefan, were due to arrive on Saturday.
