MINGORA: Local residents shot dead a leopard in Sarbanda village of Matta tehsil after it attacked and injured two villagers.

According to Arkot police, the leopard came out of the nearby forest and attacked the villagers. Hearing screams of the men who were attacked by the leopard, local residents rushed to the spot and opened fire on the leopard, leaving it dead at the spot.

The injured identified as Lal Mohammad and Abdali were shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

DFO wildlife Swat Abdul Ghafoor said he along with his team reached the spot and recovered the body of the leopard. “We have filed FIR in Matta police station against the villagers and sent the body of the wild cat for postmortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, four tourists were injured after the jeep they were travelling in went out of the driver’s control at Darolai area in Bahrain valley.

All the injured persons belonged to Karachi, who were on a visit to Swat to enjoy snowfall. The injured were taken to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.
