DACCA: Prof Ghulam Azam, Amir, Jamaat-i-Islami, East Pakistan, yesterday [Jan 12] challenged Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to clearly point out which of the provisions of the manifesto of the Jamaat will cause any harm to East Pakistan.

In a statement issued to the Press the Provincial Jamaat Chief expressed his surprise at a reported comment Sheikh Mujib made at his public meeting on Sunday, blaming Maulana Maudoodi for the disparity.

Prof Azam said even a layman knows that Maulana Maudoodi and the Jamaat-i-lslami were not associated with any Government, either at the Centre, or at the Province, during the last 22 years. He said: The Awami League chief should have understood that people have not forgotten that Awami League was also in power and their records are yet in the public memory in this connection....

Prof Azam said that his party had constantly been raising demands through resolutions, meetings and election manifesto, for adopting a practical step for the removal of disparity, granting due the share of East Pakistan in the Central Services, the Armed Forces, in the industrial sphere, in foreign exchange loans, besides flood control measures. — Agency
