LANDI KOTAL: The all Khasadar-Levies force action committee on Monday announced not to register the First Information Report and daily report across all the police stations in the tribal districts till the provincial government devises a clear-cut policy on their future.

Announcing the decision during a meeting of Khasadar and Levies officials at the Jamrud Jirga Hall, the action committee chief Subedar Said Jalal accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and police department of failure to uphold the promises they made with the Khasadar and Levies forces in tribal districts after the merger of the region with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“No station house officer in any tribal district would register an FIR or a daily report (roznamcha) and would also abstain from all court proceedings till their legal and constitutional status is determined,” he said.

Said Jalal regretted that all the promises and even the passage of a bill by the KP Assembly regarding their future had proved to be a joke with them.

He said the provincial government should clarify to them whether they had been absorbed into regular KP police or were they still a rough tribal force without any perks and privileges.

He recalled that they had to approach the courts for award of a Shuhada Package on the pattern of KP police as the provincial government was reluctant to devise a clear cut policy to award such privileges to them.

Said Jalal said they would launch a disobedience movement if their reservations and apprehensions were not addressed. He also announced a series of protest demonstrations at all the district headquarters of every tribal district to press the provincial government for acceptance of their demands.

Meanwhile, a student lost his life when his motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck near Bhagiyarri checkpost in Jamrud on Monday.

Khasadar officials said that the driver of the truck managed to escape after the incident and that they had registered a case against him.
